Jordan Poyer was born on October 22, 1988 in Aloha, Oregon. He attended Aloha High School and played football for the school’s varsity team. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Oregon where he played for the Ducks’ football team.
Poyer was drafted by the New York Jets in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He made his debut in the Jets’ game against the Buffalo Bills on September 12, 2010. In his rookie season, Poyer played in all 16 games and recorded one interception. The following year, he started all 16 games and recorded four interceptions. In 2012, he suffered a season-ending ankle injury during preseason which caused him to miss most of the 2012 NFL season.
In 2013, Poyer regained his starting spot and had an excellent season with 54 tackles, 3 interceptions and 2 touchdowns. Jordan Poyer entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He was signed by the Buffalo Bills, but was released before the season began.
